In short, this work is about change, regret, and the impossibility of going backwards.
Mary Blakemore was born in 1982 and grew up in Abington, MA. Mary works primarily with metal sculpture, writing, and photography. Mary holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University where she studied classics and contemporary poetry. In 2008 Mary created the photographic comic strip Gallery Girls, which explored themes similar to her current work. Mary lives in New York with her daughters and husband, designer Alex Smith.
